Hydrocarbon fingerprinting (capillary gas chromatography) gives
detailed information not available from routine EPA methods.
Remediation:
Identification of the type and condition of petroleum products
combined with density, viscosity, surface tension and interfacial
tension measurements gives you more information and confidence
for determining the most appropriate remediation strategy.
Litigation:
Comparison of fingerprints of released hydrocarbons to the fingerprints
of possible sources helps identify the responsible party and define
litigation.
